The headline said it all: 'The new low-priced quality quartz line, produced by the world leader in quartz'.
The date was April 13, 1982 and the headline was from a press release issues in New York City, announcing the birth of the Lorus brand. The release continuned, 'From today, the new Lorus brand joins the K Hattori (now Seiko Watch Corporation) stable and presents a collection that has it all. Lorus will thus provide millions of consumers with the opportunity to purchase quartz watches reflecting the latest state of the art technology at affordable prices'.
Today, 21 years later, Lorus has come of age and has fulfilled the destiny created for it back in 1982. Over 120 million customers worldwide have bought and enjoyed Lorus watches so far.
And, equally importantly, the Lorus brand has developed a reputation for value and quality that is unrivalled - quality in design, in manufacture and in after-sales services. Support
The guarantee period is 2 years from the date of purchase. Within this period regulation, adjustment, repair or replacement parts of movement will be performed without charge except in case of damage caused by accidents or lack of care.
The guarantee covers defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover the glass crystal, bracelet, strap, attachments or battery. It does not cover water damage when it is not clearly stated on the case back as 'water resistant'. It does not cover scratches on the case caused by use. Unauthorised repairs are not covered.
